Episode 32 – 1984 Book Review w/Suzanne Gose

Memory hole. Doublethink. Unperson. These phrases were in my vernacular & I used them from time to time – though more frequently in recent years/months. I really never knew or thought much about where they came from. So when I finally sat down to read (okay I really listened to it on Audible) George Orwell’s classic book 1984 I was surprised to discover the phrases above were birthed out of that novel.

Somehow I managed to escape my high school education without being forced to read 1984 and many other dystopian novels – Brave New World, Farenheit 454, Animal Farm, etc. And when I mused about finally having started reading (listening to) 1984 on social media, former guest/now friend Suzanne Gose was also flabbergasted. She wanted to chat with me about it after I finished to see what I thought about it. Ever the opportunist, I suggested we turn it into a podcast episode. Voila. Enjoy!
